The "SAVE America Act," which U.S. President Donald Trump is urging Congress to pass quickly, has shown overwhelming support from the American people.

According to the results of a Harvard-Harris poll cited by the White House on the 3rd (local time), 71% of Americans support the bill, which mandates that only U.S. citizens can vote.

This support includes 69% of independent voters and 50% of Democratic voters. 91% of Republican supporters backed the bill.

81% agreed with the requirement to present voter identification, with 79% of independent voters and 70% of Democratic voters supporting it.

80% responded that state governments should remove non-citizens from voter rolls.

75% stated that they believe proof of citizenship should be required to exercise voting rights.

61% supported sharing uncorrected voter rolls with the Department of Homeland Security.

60% of respondents evaluated the SAVE America Act as "a common-sense way to prevent voter fraud and protect election integrity."

58% perceive that at least some instances of election fraud exist in the United States.

85% of respondents agreed that only U.S. citizens should vote in elections, including 84% of independent voters and 82% of Democrats.

The poll was conducted online from February 25-26 among 1,999 registered voters. The margin of error was not disclosed.

Meanwhile, the Save America Act passed the House of Representatives on February 11th with 218 votes in favor and 213 against, but faces strong opposition from Democrats in the Senate. While 50 Republican senators have publicly expressed their support, 60 votes are needed to overcome the filibuster.
