The U.S. House of Representatives narrowly blocked on Wednesday a measure to end President Donald Trump's "Operation Epic Fury" in Iran.

The resolution, a bipartisan effort led by Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California, was defeated 212-219, with four Democrats voting against it alongside Republicans.

Like the Senate resolution, this measure aimed to prevent President Trump from deploying U.S. troops in the U.S.-Israel joint operation in Iran.

The Trump administration and a majority of Republicans in Congress have argued that the president has acted, and will continue to act, within his authority.

However, Republican Reps. Massie and Warren Davidson of Ohio, along with a majority of Democrats, expressed skepticism about President Trump's military actions.

Democrats who voted against limiting Trump's war powers include Jared Golden of Maine, Henry Cuellar of Texas, and Greg Landsman of Ohio.

In floor debate ahead of the vote, Massie argued, "Ayatollah was not the president. He was a religious leader from a region known for radical Islamists, and the United States and Israel made him a martyr." He added, "If Congress wants war, the Speaker should call a vote to declare war."

Davidson said on Wednesday, "The moral hazard of a government that is no longer constrained by the Constitution is a serious threat."

Conversely, most Republicans expressed concern that disrupting the operation now could do more harm than good.

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) told Fox News Digital on Tuesday, "I believe the President is operating within his legal authority to carry out this operation, and any attempt to impede that will threaten our national security and the safety of our troops."
