Toronto police are holding a press briefing regarding the shooting incident at the U.S. Consulate that occurred on the morning of the 10th (Tuesday). The photo in the box on the right shows the suspect vehicle provided by the police.
Toronto police in Canada announced on the 10th (Tuesday) that the shooters fired at the U.S. Consulate and there were no casualties.
The suspects are reported to have driven a white Honda CR-V to the front of the consulate building at 5:29 AM, where two men exited the vehicle and fired several shots at the building. They then reportedly re-entered the vehicle and fled the scene.
Police who arrived at the scene discovered evidence consistent with gunfire, including damage to the building's glass and doors, and shell casings.
Police stated that although there were people inside the building at the time of the incident, no one was injured.
Authorities have not yet identified a motive for the crime, but the incident occurred amidst intense backlash within the United States over the war waged by the U.S. against Iran and President Donald Trump's large-scale deportation policy.
Police have released a photo of the suspect vehicle and are actively working to identify witnesses and review CCTV footage from the area to gather additional evidence that could assist in locating the suspects.
This incident occurred just three days after two participants in a counter-protest to a demonstration organized by Jake Lang in front of the New York Mayor's residence on Saturday, threw Molotov cocktails, which fizzled out in front of the police, drawing attention.
The FBI is investigating whether the incident is linked to terrorism.
