White House officials have informed Israel that potential U.S. military operations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz will take several weeks, Israel's Channel 12 reported on the 22nd (local time).

According to the report, if Iran does not comply with U.S. President Donald Trump's ultimatum to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, the U.S. military plans to extend the duration of the operation to secure sufficient time to carry it out.

U.S. officials emphasized the need for a strategic shift to Israel, expressing their determination not to allow Iran to hold the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping lane through which 20% of the world's oil traffic passes, hostage any longer, the broadcast reported.

In particular, U.S. officials are reported to have stated the objective of this operation as "inducing their (the Iranian regime's) collapse from within."
