President Trump announced on Truth Social, "The United States and Iran have had productive discussions over the past two days regarding a complete end to hostilities in the Middle East," announcing a five-day delay in striking Iran's energy facilities.

He added, "In consideration of the constructive dialogue that has continued throughout this week, I have directed the Department of Defense to postpone any military strikes on Iran's power plants and energy infrastructure for five days," adding, "This is contingent upon the successful outcome of ongoing meetings and discussions."

This move is a stark contrast to President Trump's ultimatum issued on Saturday night, warning that he was prepared to strike power plants and major energy facilities within 48 hours if Tehran did not de-escalate tensions and reopen the Strait of Hormuz as a safe passage.

Iran responded to President Trump's ultimatum on the 22nd by threatening to completely close the Strait of Hormuz if the United States attacked its power plants.
