A memorial event for "West Sea Defense Day," honoring the heroes who sacrificed for their country in the West Sea, including the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, the sinking of the Cheonan, and the shelling of Yeonpyeong Island, will be held in Daegu.

The youth civic group TKYC (TK Youth Right-Wing Community) will hold a 'West Sea Defense Day Commemorative March' on Friday, the 27th, at 8 PM, in front of Exit 12 of Banwoldang Station in Daegu.

Honoring the Sacrifice of Heroes Who Defended the West Sea

West Sea Defense Day is an annual legal memorial day observed on the fourth Friday of March, established to honor the noble spirit of the patriotic heroes who sacrificed their lives defending the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the West Sea against North Korean provocations.

This event will reflect on the painful tragedies of our modern history, including the △Second Battle of Yeonpyeong in 2002 (6 soldiers killed), △the sinking of the Cheonan in 2010 (46 sailors killed), and △the shelling of Yeonpyeong Island in 2010 (2 Marines and 2 civilians killed), and will be a time to commemorate the warriors who gave their lives for the nation at that time.

"History Not Remembered is History Repeated"

TKYC, the organizer of the event, stated, "To call out someone's name is a promise to remember them forever." They warned, "If these incidents caused by North Korean provocations are forgotten from our memories, North Korea can provoke again when we are negligent."

They also emphasized, "A nation cannot be maintained without respect for the warriors who displayed an unwavering military spirit." They urged citizens to "mourn those who sacrificed for the country and unite their hearts so that such incidents never happen again."

Any citizen who wishes to remember the heroes of the West Sea is welcome to participate in this commemorative march. Detailed inquiries about the event can be made through the 'TKYC Open Chat Room'.
