U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 1st (local time) that "the new regime president of Iran has just requested a ceasefire from the United States."

In a post on the social media platform Truth Social on the same day, President Trump stated this, describing the party that requested the ceasefire as "much less radical and much smarter than his predecessors."

Based on the title alone, it can be interpreted that President Masoud Pezeshkian requested a ceasefire from President Trump. It could also refer to a "new regime" centered around President Pezeshkian, who is known for his moderate stance, unlike the Iranian military.

AFP news agency reported that President Pezeshkian said in a phone call with Charles Michel, President of the European Council, "If the essential conditions are met, especially if the recurrence of aggression is guaranteed, we have the will to end this conflict."

However, considering expressions such as "predecessor" and "new regime," the possibility that he was referring to a third party rather than President Pezeshkian cannot be ruled out. President Trump has claimed that Mojtaba, the son of the deceased Ali Khamenei, is unable to fulfill the role of Supreme Leader.

Trump also wrote, "We will consider it (the ceasefire request) when the Strait of Hormuz is open, free, and secure."

He added, "Until then, we will completely devastate Iran," asserting that "they are being returned to the Stone Age, so to speak."

The previous day, President Trump had stated, "All I have to do is leave Iran. We will leave soon," mentioning a specific timeline of "within two to three weeks" for the end of military operations against Iran.

President Trump is scheduled to deliver a speech this afternoon at 9 p.m. (10 a.m. on the 2nd, Korean time) to update the public on the latest situation regarding the Iran war.
