Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has sent an open letter to the American public.

In the letter, Iran claimed it posed no threat to the United States and harbored no ill will towards American citizens, while also issuing a warning about "consequences," CBS News reported on Sunday afternoon.

"When war causes irreversible damage to life, homes, cities, and the future, people will not remain indifferent to those responsible," Pezeshkian wrote.

Pezeshkian described actions targeting Iran's industrial and energy facilities as a direct attack on the Iranian nation, stating that such actions "will have consequences far beyond Iran's borders."

He pointed to the US-backed coup in 1953 as the starting point of tension in bilateral relations and questioned the US motives for its involvement in war.

"Is it not the case that America, influenced and manipulated by the Zionist regime, has joined this aggression as its proxy?" he asked. Pezeshkian stated in a firm tone that sanctions and repeated military actions have "failed to weaken Iran."

"Do not be deceived by the means of disseminating misinformation, which is a core element of this attack, and talk to people who have visited Iran," he added.

"Look at the numerous brilliant Iranian expatriates who were educated in Iran and are now teaching and researching at the world's most prestigious universities or contributing to the West's cutting-edge technology companies," he said. "Do these realities align with the distorted information you hear about Iran and its people?"

However, dismissive remarks that the letter was merely propaganda quickly followed.

A post on X described it as "the Iranian president's amazing propaganda," pointing out that the letter omitted numerous facts, such as Iran's funding of over 67,000 terrorists leading to hundreds of thousands of deaths, the shouting of 'Death to America' in parliament, and the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization not only in the US but also in the EU, Canada, and Australia.

The post stated, "This is a surrender document disguised as seeking peace," adding, "The regime has lost the war and is now appealing directly to the American people to stop their government."
