President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he is inviting all Americans to a Christian event to be held next month in Washington D.C.

President Trump hosted an Easter brunch with several faith leaders on Wednesday, during the heart of Holy Week. Trump stated that Good Friday signifies the death of Jesus Christ, followed by the 'miracle' of Jesus' resurrection on Easter Sunday.

He then said, "On May 17, I will invite all Americans to the National Mall to spend a day of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving." He added, "As America approaches its 250th anniversary, it will be something truly special," receiving applause from attendees.

Earlier in February, at the National Prayer Breakfast, President Trump had invited attendees to rededicate themselves as "One Nation Under God."
