Canadian media outlet Western Standard criticized Lee Jae-myung as ‘Asia’s New Dictator’ in an opinion column on the 1st (local time). 

The author, Barclay, argued that the reason Lee Jae-myung is a dictator is because he is writing a new manual to dismantle democratic countries, citing election manipulation, imprisonment of political opponents, and censorship of critical media.

Since taking office, Lee Jae-myung has prosecuted his predecessor, President Yoon Suk-yeol, and subsequently handed down a life sentence in a rebellion trial. He also pushed for the "gag law," stating that "media that distorts facts for political purposes must be held accountable."
