Attack grace period expires in 6 days…Iran announces planned concentrated attacks on power plants, bridges, etc. on the 7th.
President Trump [AFP News Agency]
U.S. President Donald Trump on the 5th (local time) pressured Iran for an agreement, threatening a massive bombing of key infrastructure.
He also presented the prospect that negotiations could be concluded on the 6th, when the pause on attacks on power plants and energy infrastructure expires. This appears to be an attempt to urge Iran to conclude negotiations through heightened pressure, while also aiming to prevent market and public sentiment from wavering with optimism about a resolution.
President Trump posted on social media platform Truth Social around 8 a.m. on the day, stating, "Tuesday (the 7th) will be the day of power plants, the day of bridges for Iran. Open the damn (Strait of) Hormuz, you crazy bastards, or you'll live in hell."
President Trump said that everything would come together on an unprecedented scale and urged people to watch. He also used a mocking expression, "Praise be to Allah."
About an hour and 30 minutes later, in an interview with Fox News, President Trump said regarding the prospect of concluding negotiations with Iran, "I think there's a high possibility tomorrow (the 6th). Negotiations are underway now."
He added, "If we don't reach an agreement quickly, we are considering blowing up everything (of Iran) and taking their oil."
The 6th is the deadline for the ten-day pause President Trump granted on attacks against power plants and energy infrastructure, stating that negotiations with Iran were ongoing.
It is interpreted that he has maximized pressure to open the Strait of Hormuz and conclude negotiations by launching massive attacks on key infrastructure facilities such as power plants and bridges on the 7th, immediately after the attack pause expires, aiming to inflict a critical blow to Iran.
At the same time, the intention is also evident to reassure the market and public opinion, which view the plan for a wave of attacks on Iranian infrastructure with concern, by presenting an optimistic outlook that a deal is likely to be reached within the negotiation deadline he set.
Accordingly, the 6th is expected to be a significant turning point in the Iran war, which has been ongoing for nearly five weeks.
Given the stark differences in positions between the United States and Iran regarding the terms of a ceasefire, and the difficulty in knowing whether there has been any substantial progress in negotiations with Iran, if President Trump carries out the predicted chain of attacks on Iran's key infrastructure, the risk of Middle East-induced uncertainty could increase.

President Trump also appears to be in a desperate situation with only one day left before the attack pause deadline.
While the repeated use of profanity in his Truth Social posts is likely intended to raise the level of pressure, analysts suggest it also indicates President Trump's urgency.
With the war now entering its sixth week, contrary to President Trump's initial prediction that the war would end in 4-6 weeks, all eyes are on what President Trump will say at his White House press conference scheduled for the 6th.
President Trump announced that he would hold a press conference at the White House at 1 p.m. on the 6th (2 a.m. on the 7th KST) with military officials, commending the successful rescue of a missing crew member from an F-15E shot down in Iran.
While it is seen as a conference to commend and promote the success of the search and rescue operation, it is also being closely watched for any specific statements on future responses to Iran, given that it coincides with the expiration of the attack pause.
President Trump also reported that the rescued F-15E crew member was seriously injured.
In a separate Truth Social post on the same day, he emphasized that the rescue was carried out while Iran was conducting a large-scale search operation and approaching the area, stating, "We rescued a seriously injured and truly courageous F-15 pilot from the deep mountainous region of Iran."
He added that such rescue operations are rarely undertaken due to the risk of casualties and equipment loss. He also mentioned that the pilot of the F-15E flew for seven hours in broad daylight over Iranian airspace during the rescue of one of the two crew members.
