U.S. President Trump [Reuters=Yonhap News]U.S. President Donald Trump, who extended the deadline for negotiations with Iran to the 7th, warned that if Iran fails to comply with demands, such as opening the Strait of Hormuz, by then, he would launch a massive strike on Iran's infrastructure.

President Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, without specific explanation, "Tuesday 8 PM Eastern Time! (9 AM on the 8th, Korean time)."

This is interpreted as extending the deadline for negotiations, which would involve a pause on core infrastructure attacks, from the originally announced 6th to the 7th, a one-day extension.

President Trump stated the negotiation deadline to be the evening of the 7th in an interview with the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the same day.

In the interview, President Trump said, "If they don't do anything by Tuesday evening (the 7th), there won't be any power plants left, and there won't be any bridges standing."

On March 26th, President Trump had announced an extension of the pause on attacks against Iranian power plants until 8 PM Eastern Time on April 6th, a ten-day extension.

President Trump had initially set a '48-hour' deadline on March 21st, foreshadowing an attack on Iranian power plants, and then announced a five-day pause on the 23rd of the same month. Therefore, as of this date, President Trump had postponed attacks on Iranian power plants and other targets three times.

In an interview with Axios on the same day, President Trump mentioned the possibility of an agreement being reached before his self-imposed deadline of the 7th, stating that the U.S. and Iran were engaged in "deep negotiations."

Regarding the possibility of reaching an agreement, President Trump said, "There is a great possibility (of an agreement), but if they don't agree, I will blow everything up there."

President Trump also expressed skepticism about the possibility of a final agreement, stating, "The negotiations are going well, but we never reach the finish line with Iran," indicating that while negotiations are progressing, there is still uncertainty about a final resolution.

He added that a few days prior, both sides had nearly agreed to direct negotiations instead of indirect ones, stating, "But they said let's meet in five days. I asked them why it would take five days. I felt they were not serious. So I attacked that bridge."

This refers to the attack on a bridge connecting Iran's capital, Tehran, to northern Iran, which occurred on April 1st.

Through Truth Social on the same day, President Trump also pressured Iran, using expletives, saying, "Open the damn Strait of Hormuz, you crazy bastards, or you will live in hell."

In recent public statements, including his address to the nation on April 1st, President Trump has maintained that normalizing the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran is blockading, is primarily the responsibility of countries that import large quantities of oil through the strait.

Trump's demand for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz in such an aggressive tone today is seen as a consideration of the reality that the U.S., which imports minimal energy through Hormuz, is not immune to the impact of rising oil prices due to the blockade of the strait.

In an interview with the U.S. congressional news outlet The Hill, President Trump also did not rule out the possibility of deploying ground troops if Iran did not agree to a deal.

When asked, "Do you rule out sending ground troops to Iran?", President Trump replied, "No."

He added, "A normal person would make a deal. A smart person would make a deal. If they are smart, they will make a deal."
