The United States announced on Easter Sunday that it had rescued a U.S. pilot who was isolated behind enemy lines after ejecting from a fighter jet downed over Iranian airspace.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) officially announced on Sunday, April 5, that airstrikes against Iran continued after the successful rescue of F-15E pilots.
According to the announcement, on April 4, the U.S. military successfully rescued two U.S. soldiers from Iran after an F-15E fighter jet was shot down during a combat mission.

CENTCOM stated, "The service members were safely rescued during separate search and rescue missions," and added, "U.S. attacks on Iran are continuing as the U.S. Central Command dismantles the Iranian regime's ability to project power across its borders."
Iran showed no signs of backing down and launched new attacks on economic and infrastructure targets in neighboring Gulf Arab countries.
The pilot, who had been missing after the crash of an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet on Friday, April 3, was rescued following an urgent U.S. search and rescue operation. Iran had mobilized its residents, offering bounties to anyone who handed over the "enemy pilot." President Trump stated that the pilot was injured but in stable condition.
The fighter jet was the first U.S. aircraft to crash on Iranian territory since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran on February 28.
President Trump posted the following on Truth Social:
"We got him out! My fellow Americans, over the past few hours, the United States military has successfully executed one of the most daring Search and Rescue missions in American history. One of our brilliant officers and a respected Colonel has been safely rescued and is back! This brave warrior was hiding deep behind enemy lines in the rugged mountains of Iran and was being pursued by the enemy. The enemy was getting closer and closer as time went on, but he was never alone. Because he had me, the Commander-in-Chief, the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and my fellow soldiers watching his every move and planning the rescue mission 24/7. At my direction, the U.S. military deployed dozens of aircraft armed with the world's greatest weapons to bring him home. He was injured, but he will recover shortly. This miracle Search and Rescue mission follows the successful rescue of another brave pilot yesterday. We did not confirm the rescue yesterday so as not to interfere with the second rescue mission. This marks the first time in U.S. military history that two U.S. pilots have been rescued separately from deep behind enemy lines. We will never abandon our soldiers! The fact that we were able to successfully execute both of these missions with zero U.S. casualties is a testament to our overwhelming air superiority over Iran, which we have again proven. This is a moment for Republicans, Democrats, and all Americans to be proud and united. We truly have the greatest, most professional, and most powerful military force in the history of the world. God bless America, God bless our soldiers. And Happy Easter to all!"
President Trump appeared to be highly impressed after being briefed on the rescue operation.
In another Truth Social post, President Trump stated, "We rescued a very brave F-15 pilot/officer who was badly injured deep in the mountains of Iran," adding, "The Iranian military had mobilized large forces and was desperately searching, almost surrounding him. He is a highly respected Colonel. These types of airstrikes are rarely attempted because of the danger to 'personnel and equipment.' It just doesn't happen! The second airstrike occurred after the first, and we operated for seven hours over Iran in broad daylight, an unusual occurrence, to rescue the pilot. Incredible bravery and outstanding skill demonstrated by all personnel!"
President Trump is scheduled to hold a press conference at 1 p.m. Monday in the Oval Office with military officials.
