U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 7th (local time) that Iran has agreed to a two-week suspension of attacks on Iran on the condition that Iran opens the Strait of Hormuz.

President Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social at 6:32 PM on this day, stating, "On the condition that Iran agrees to the full, immediate, and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to a two-week suspension of bombings and attacks on Iran."

President Trump emphasized that this would be a ceasefire applicable to both sides.

Accordingly, Iran's decision on the opening of the Strait of Hormuz remains pending for the finalization of the two-week ceasefire.

President Trump's declaration of a 'conditional agreement to a two-week suspension of attacks' came 1 hour and 30 minutes before the negotiation deadline he had set.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who has been mediating negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, appeared to accept a proposal made approximately 5 hours before the negotiation deadline: for the U.S. to extend the deadline for two weeks, for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz, and for both sides to observe a ceasefire for the same period.

President Trump had threatened to launch a series of strikes on Iran's key infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, if an agreement with Iran was not reached by 8 PM Eastern Time on this day.
