North Korean missile launch [Yonhap News]
North Korea fired an unspecified projectile into the East Sea on December 8, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on the same day.
This is the second consecutive day of launches following the previous day, and South Korean and US intelligence agencies are analyzing the detailed specifications.
North Korea also fired an unspecified projectile eastward from the Pyongyang area the previous day. This projectile reportedly showed anomalies early in its flight and disappeared.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff are reportedly leaning towards the possibility that the projectile launched yesterday was a ballistic missile, and it is possible that North Korea conducted consecutive missile test launches due to the failure of yesterday's launch.
North Korea's projectile launches have occurred on two consecutive days, following Workers' Party Vice Chairman Kim Yo Jong's remarks that South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, who expressed regret over the "North Korean drone infiltration incident," "assessed it as the attitude of an honest and magnanimous person."
It is possible that they intended to demonstrate through a show of force that their hostile policy towards the South has not changed.
