U.S. President Donald Trump [Reuters=Yonhap News]
U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on the 7th (local time) that the "ceasefire agreement with Iran is a complete victory for the United States" after suddenly agreeing to a two-week truce with Iran.
President Trump emphasized in a brief phone interview with AFP immediately after the ceasefire announcement that day, "It's a complete and perfect victory. 100%. No doubt about it."
Furthermore, President Trump stated regarding Iran's enriched uranium issue, "It will be handled perfectly, otherwise I would not have agreed."
When asked if China, a major ally of Iran, was involved in the truce negotiations, President Trump said, "I heard so."
Earlier, President Trump posted on social media Truth Social, stating, "I agree to a two-week suspension of bombing and attacks on Iran on the condition that Iran agrees to the complete, immediate, and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz."
Subsequently, Iran's Supreme National Security Council also issued a statement, effectively agreeing to the two-week truce and claiming victory in the war against the United States and Israel, and that the U.S. had accepted all 10 articles of Iran's proposal for ending the war.
