The White House has instructed its staff not to bet on prediction markets amid uncertainty over the end of the war between the U.S. and Iran.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the warning was delivered through an email sent to all staff by the White House Management Office on March 24.

The email stated, "Recent media reports have raised concerns about government officials using non-public government information to bet on online prediction markets such as Kalshi or Polymarket."

The email, sent from the White House Management Office, explained that trading on prediction market contracts using non-public information is a criminal offense.

The email was sent the day after President Donald Trump announced a halt to attacks on Iran. Active movement was observed in the markets 15 minutes prior to President Trump's announcement.

The WSJ pointed out that there is no evidence that anyone within the administration traded on these sites using insider information.
