U.S. President Donald Trump predicted on April 12 (local time) that Iran would return to the negotiating table despite the failure of the first round of peace talks between the U.S. and Iran.

In a phone interview with Fox News on the same day, President Trump said, "They (Iran) have not left the negotiating table, and I expect them to come back and give us everything we want."

He attributed this outlook to the fact that "they have no cards," highlighting that all of Iran's military capabilities have been destroyed.

President Trump's remarks came in response to a host's point that his threat to "destroy the entire Iranian civilization" prior to the two-week ceasefire agreement with Iran was causing controversy.

Regarding this threat, he stated, "I'm fine with it," emphasizing, "That's what got them to the negotiating table, and they haven't left."

He reiterated his threat to revert Iran to the "stone age," saying, "I can finish Iran in a day. I can finish all facilities, including all energy facilities and power plants, in an hour."

President Trump also alluded to Iran's desalination plants, bridges, power grid, and remaining missile manufacturing facilities as potential targets for attack.

Regarding his directive to the U.S. Navy to blockade the Strait of Hormuz via the social media platform Truth Social earlier that day, President Trump said, "(It will take) some time (for the blockade), but it will be implemented soon. It won't take long to clear the strait."

He added, "We have deployed mine-clearing ships there. The latest, state-of-the-art underwater mine-clearing ships are in operation now, but we are deploying more traditional mine-clearing ships. As far as I know, Britain and some other countries are sending mine-clearing ships."

President Trump mentioned that two of the U.S.'s latest destroyers were deployed to clear mines laid by Iran and passed through the Strait of Hormuz the previous day, stating, "No one did anything to us."

In the interview, he criticized the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for being uncooperative regarding requests for the dispatch of warships to the Strait of Hormuz in the war with Iran, and once again expressed his disappointment with South Korea and Japan.

President Trump stated, "Japan imports 93% of its oil, and South Korea imports 45% of its oil from there. However, they did not help us. We have 45,000 troops in Japan and 50,000 troops in South Korea, respectively. But when we asked for help, they did not help us."

He inflated the number of U.S. Forces Korea, which is around 28,500, to convey a message of dissatisfaction and pressure to South Korea.

When asked if energy prices would fall before the U.S. midterm elections in November, President Trump replied, "I hope so. It will be similar, or perhaps a little higher, but it will be roughly at the same level (as before the war)."

When asked if his announcement of a 50% tariff on countries sending war materials to Iran referred to China, President Trump responded, "Yes. Other countries are included, but if it is confirmed that China engaged in such activities, then yes."

Regarding negotiations with Iran, President Trump explained the reason for the breakdown in talks: "The negotiations were very friendly towards the end, and we got everything we needed except for the fact that they couldn't give up their nuclear ambitions. Honestly, that (nuclear issue) was by far the most important thing to me."
