Osang-jong, Head of the Free Korea Homeland Corps

The Free Korea Homeland Corps (Head: Osang-jong) has requested severe disciplinary action, exceeding suspension of party membership rights, against former People Power Party lawmaker Seo Byung-soo, who advocated for solidarity with independent Han Dong-hoon.

In a statement released on the 13th, the Free Korea Homeland Corps stated, "Former People Power Party District Party Chairman Seo Byung-soo, after meeting with Han Dong-hoon, who was expelled and is currently an independent, publicly stated that the People Power Party should form an alliance with him, even if it means not nominating a candidate." They asserted, "The argument to not field our own candidates and to support an independent candidate is an act that directly negates the party's nomination system and electoral order, and is essentially a significant act of misconduct that supports an independent political move."

Furthermore, they criticized, "Especially since there are already People Power Party preliminary candidates in the relevant district, the district party chairman's demand to abandon nominations for a specific individual is a self-denial of the efforts of party members and candidates."

The Free Korea Homeland Corps stated that these remarks are highly problematic as they are factional political actions aimed at mobilizing political support around a specific expelled individual and destabilizing the party's official system. Former lawmaker Seo Byung-soo is known to have resigned from his position as district party chairman afterward.

However, the Free Korea Homeland Corps' position is that resignation cannot be a reason to evade responsibility, and disciplinary action for misconduct must be judged separately.

"Former lawmaker Seo Byung-soo is a senior politician who has served five terms as a National Assembly member and even as the Mayor of Busan. Given that he has built his political foundation through the party's nominations for a long time, his responsibility is far heavier than that of a general party member. Nevertheless, his actions, which negate the party's official decisions and electoral system, must be evaluated even more strictly."

Announcing the above, the Free Korea Homeland Corps strongly requested severe disciplinary action, beyond the suspension of party membership rights, against former lawmaker Seo Byung-soo. The main demand of the Free Korea Homeland Corps is that party discipline is built on principles, and if such acts of misconduct are not corrected, the same incidents will inevitably repeat.
