The New York Post evaluated on the night of the 12th (local time) that U.S. President Donald Trump saw through Iran's bluff and employed an excellent strategy to blockade the Strait of Hormuz.

At the summit held in Pakistan on the 11th, the United States presented six 'red lines' that it absolutely could not compromise on, but the Iranian delegation refused to accept the U.S. demands.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote on X on the 12th, "If the U.S. government abandons totalitarianism and respects the rights of the Iranian people, we can surely find a way to reach an agreement."

Vice President JD Vance stated that the reason the negotiations failed was that Iran mistakenly believed it possessed negotiating power that it did not actually have.

The Iranian regime's leadership had anticipated that President Trump would make concessions by bringing up the issue of the Strait of Hormuz.

The New York Post predicted, "The President is thinking outside the box with this blockade and plan to escort ships passing through the strait," adding, "If necessary, he could later order the U.S. military to occupy Kargo Island, thereby dismantling the regime's power base."

The New York Post explained, "This also ensures that Tehran's attempt to impose tolls on all oil tankers passing through the strait will fail, and it upholds America's commitment to freedom of the seas, a commitment that dates back to President Thomas Jefferson, the Barbary pirates, and the U.S. Marines' landing operation on the 'Shores of Tripoli'."

While Iran threatened a "strong and decisive response" to Trump's actions and mentioned the end of a ceasefire, the New York Post dismissed this as "complete nonsense."

Trump's blockade does not significantly impact Europe or the Americas. The Americas have almost no dependence on the Strait of Hormuz, and European countries receive their necessary crude oil supplies through the Suez Canal.

Numerous countries, including the United States, have already secured new crude oil trading partners. Furthermore, refineries in other Gulf countries, which were shut down due to Iranian attacks, have almost all been restored and restarted.

It is also noteworthy that the blockade of the strait is being conducted in parallel with mine clearance operations. The U.S. Central Command announced that it would notify shipping companies of new alternative routes.
