The civic group Committee for the Countermeasures of Common People's Livelihoods (Seominwi) has demanded a "confidence vote" from the Blue House and the ruling party.
On the 14th, Kim Soon-hwan, Secretary-General of Seominwi, raised suspicions at a press conference at the National Assembly that President Lee and the Democratic Party had colluded in committing an "economic crime" (a crime of harming the nation in conspiracy with a foreign country).
Secretary-General Kim stated, "At the constitutional amendment vote on June 3rd, a question on whether to re-endorse the President or all National Assembly members should be included," and demanded a "main election without pre-election and a manual counting method for fairness."
In addition, he demanded "an end to the 'harassment' of the investigation team, including prosecutor Park Sang-yong, who investigated the illegal North Korean remittance case, and the judiciary, including Chief Justice Jo Hee-dae," while simultaneously labeling the Democratic Party's recent push for a "parliamentary inquiry into suspicions of politically motivated indictment" as "an attempt to cover up the truth of the illegal North Korean remittance."
Seominwi also criticized the Democratic Party, stating that they are continuously destabilizing the judiciary and retaliating against prosecutors instead of protecting national security and international credibility, in order to cover up the President's suspicions. They added, "They have turned the sacred National Assembly into a mess with absurd issues such as waiving appeals and fabricated indictments, all to cover up the crimes of one person, President Lee."
