USA Today reported on Wednesday, citing an anonymous "insider," that the U.S. Department of War is "quietly intensifying" plans to attack Cuba. This follows similar rumors that emerged on Substack.

USA Today provided few details on what this so-called "possible" military intervention would specifically look like, only referring to it as an "operation" rather than an invasion or attack.

The report suggested that the U.S. Department of Defense is making full preparations to potentially target Cuba once President Trump successfully concludes negotiations to end the ongoing 'Operation Epic Fury' in Iran.

One expert cited in the USA Today article dismissed it as mere "signals" with little concrete evidence of such an operation being imminent.

This report comes months after President Donald Trump told reporters that he was considering measures to weaken and ultimately oust the Cuban Communist Party, which has held power for 67 years.

Trump has also publicly spoken about the possibility of a "friendly takeover" of the impoverished island nation of Cuba.

Cuba experienced a communist coup in 1959, ushering in the current Castro dynasty's dictatorship, now ruled by the 94-year-old serial killer Raul Castro, who has placed his children and his brother Fidel's children in key positions within the Communist Party.

Castro appointed Miguel Diaz-Canel as "President," a symbolic position designed to appease public anger in a communist dictatorship, serving to protect the Castro family.

While the Castro dictatorship has historically been unpopular in Cuba, public anger has surged dramatically over the past decade and continues to grow. The independent watchdog group Cubalecxis reported on Thursday that Cuba saw an average of seven protests per day in March, a record high since protests began on July 11, 2021.

Independent journalist Cubanet pointed out on Thursday that U.S. Southern Command head General Francis Donovan stated in a Senate hearing on March 19 that the Department of Defense was not conducting "rehearsals" or "active" preparations for an attack on Cuba.

However, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is reportedly in contact with senior leaders of the Castro dynasty, according to the report.

Trump alluded to the conflict with Iran on Monday, stating, "Cuba is a failed state, and we're going to deal with it, and we may be visiting Cuba after this is over." He also added, "Cuba is a country that has been run poorly for a long time."

Similarly, days before the Iran invasion in February, Trump claimed the Communist Party was "in dialogue" with the White House.

Meanwhile, Axios reported that the Trump administration has accused Cuba of sending 5,000 fighters to aid Russia's invasion. The Ukrainian government claimed the actual number of Cubans fighting for Russia in the conflict last year could be as high as 20,000.

A poll released Thursday by the Miami Herald found that 77% of Cuban Americans residing in Florida support U.S. military action against the Communist Party.

The poll was released ahead of the anniversary of the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961, a betrayal of Cubans who were armed and trained by the United States to liberate Cuba from communism, only to be massacred by communists due to the betrayal of President John F. Kennedy, a Democrat.
