U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on the 18th (local time) that peace talks with Iran were progressing well, despite Iran resuming control over the Strait of Hormuz.

At an executive order signing ceremony at the White House on the same day, President Trump said, "They wanted to close the strait again," adding, "They've been doing that for a long time, but they can't intimidate us."

He also remarked, "They're acting a little tricky, like they have for the last 47 years," and added, "Nobody dealt with them, and we dealt with them."

He reiterated his previous claim, saying, "They have no navy, no air force, no leadership. Nothing," and described it as "regime change, and I'll call it forced regime change."

Despite this, President Trump stated that peace talks with Iran are "working out pretty well, and actually going smoothly," adding, "We'll see, but we'll be receiving some information today."

He said, "We are talking to them, and as you know, we are taking a firm stance."

President Trump's mention of "some information" is interpreted as suggesting that significant progress in negotiations with Iran could be made today.

President Trump also brought up the fact that numerous U.S. soldiers were killed by Iranian bombings, stating, "We have a very different view than other presidents," and added, "They've been killing people for 47 years and getting away with it, and they won't be able to do that anymore."

President Trump did not receive any questions related to Iran, other than those pertaining to the executive order from reporters on this day.

President Trump signed an executive order to accelerate medical research and treatment utilizing illegal psychedelic drugs.

This order allows for the reclassification of these drugs, which were previously illegal to consume, after clinical trials and other procedures. President Trump announced that he would provide $50 million for related federal research.

Veterans groups have argued that these specific psychedelic drugs can be helpful in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has also actively supported the use of these drugs as alternative treatments for mental illnesses such as depression.
