  • Stated in PBS interview... Dismisses concerns about rising oil prices, "If Iran agrees, it will plummet."

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that "a lot of bombs will start going off" if a ceasefire with Iran expires.

In a phone interview with PBS News, Trump made it clear that the U.S. is prepared to take strong action if Tehran fails to reach an agreement on its nuclear program, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation as the ceasefire deadline approaches.

When asked what would happen if the ceasefire expired on Tuesday, Trump replied, "Then a lot of bombs will start going off," suggesting a potential return to open conflict after weeks of tense standoff.

The President stressed that the administration's goal remains clear: to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

"No nuclear weapons. Very simple. Iran cannot have nuclear weapons," he said.

U.S. negotiators were preparing for a second round of talks in Islamabad, led by Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Senior Advisor Jared Kushner.

While Trump told PBS that Iran "should be there," he expressed skepticism about whether Tehran would actually attend, adding, "It's fine if Iran doesn't show up."

The government has been increasing pressure, engaging in diplomatic efforts while also blockading Iran's maritime routes and deploying additional troops, warning of severe consequences if negotiations fail.

Iran recently attacked vessels of Indian, British, and French nationality in the Strait of Hormuz, announcing it would re-blockade the waterway it had previously declared open.

The U.S. has accused Iran of violating the ceasefire agreement and is responding strongly.

Meanwhile, regarding rising energy costs in connection with the Iran conflict, Trump dismissed concerns in his interview with PBS, stating that gas prices could "plummet" if Iran agrees to a deal and tensions ease.
