Yoon Ho-jung, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (Minister of the Interior and Safety), urged on the 5th, "As heavy rain is forecast for the early morning and morning tomorrow (the 6th), please actively inform tourists and campers staying by rivers and valleys in advance about the dangerous weather and the necessity of evacuation."

In emergency instructions on this day, Yoon emphasized, "For areas affected by torrential downpours, strengthen surveillance and inspections to prevent casualties, and actively implement prior control of areas and facilities at risk of damage and pre-emptive evacuation of residents."

He also instructed, "Please actively promote to residents the public action guidelines, such as refraining from going out during dangerous weather, not approaching dangerous areas, avoiding flooded roads, and refraining from checking drainage when it rains."

Yoon repeatedly stressed, "To prevent traffic congestion and accidents during commuting hours, quickly inform about detour routes for controlled and dangerous sections, and provide repeated guidance even during working hours to minimize public inconvenience."

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, heavy rain is expected nationwide starting from the central region and northern Gyeongsangbuk-do from the early morning of the 6th. The rain is expected to spread to the entire country, including Jeju, by morning.

The cumulative rainfall expected for two days, the 6th and 7th, is 30-100 mm in eastern Gyeonggi and inland/mountainous areas of Gangwon, 30-80 mm in Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Gyeongsang regions, 20-60 mm in Jeju Island, and 10-40 mm on the east coast of Gangwon. On the 6th alone, Seoul, Incheon, western Gyeonggi, and the Western Sea Islands will receive 30-100 mm of rain, and Ulleungdo and Dokdo will receive 5-40 mm.

As heavy rain pours down in a narrow area, the amount of precipitation will vary greatly within the same city, county, or district. Some areas may experience torrential downpours of around 70 mm per hour.
