President Donald Trump expressed his gratitude to Iran for rescinding the executions of eight female citizens following his appeal.

Yesterday, President Trump, quoting a post by pro-Israel activist Eyal Yacobi who claimed there were plans to hang eight Iranian women, requested via Truth Social, "It would be a great thing if you would release these women. I am sure you will respect the decision to release them. Please do not harm them! This would be a great start to our negotiation!!!"

The post did not identify the women but included photos of several, including Vita Hemati, who was arrested during anti-government protests in January.

According to the New York Post, Hemati was arrested along with two other men who lived in the same apartment building as her husband, and all four were sentenced to death on charges of crimes against the state.

The post also featured Diana Taherabadi, 16, and Mahboubeh Shabani, 33, who were arrested on charges of participating in anti-government protests earlier this year.

Like other protesters, Taherabadi was charged with "enmity against God," a crime punishable by death in the Islamic Republic, for her participation in the January protests.

Shabani was arrested in February for aiding injured protesters. Venus Hosseininejad, 28, was arrested on January 15, and her family told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) that she was forced to confess to crimes against the state on public television.

Golnaz Naraghi, 37, an internal medicine specialist at Hashemi-Nejad Hospital, was arrested on January 14 and forced to sign a confession at Qarchak Women's Prison, according to the Phemena human rights group.

The New York Post also reported that Yacobi's post featured Ghazal Gholandari, Fana Movahedi, and Ensieh Nejat, but information about them could not be verified.

The Times of Israel reported on the 22nd that "a human rights group has since stated that at least two of the eight women had already been released when President Trump urged the Iranian leadership for their release yesterday."

According to the New York Post, President Trump had previously urged the release of those arrested for participating in anti-government protests earlier this year.

President Trump stated on Truth Social on Wednesday, "Great news!" and added, "I just heard that 8 more women protestors who were scheduled to be executed in Iran tonight will not be executed."

He continued, "4 of them will be released immediately, and the other 4 will be sentenced to one month in prison." He concluded by saying, "I am truly grateful to Iran and its leaders for respecting my request as President of the United States and withdrawing their plans for execution."
