FBI agents conducted raids and searches at more than 20 childcare facilities in Minneapolis on Tuesday.
Fox News and CBS News reported on the raids, citing sources.
The action is part of a broad investigation into fraud, primarily involving businesses owned by Somalis. This includes childcare facilities accused of billing the state for childcare services they did not provide, despite being registered with the state.
A Department of Justice spokesperson told Fox News, "Today, the FBI, along with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, is participating in court-authorized law enforcement activity as part of an ongoing fraud investigation."

Vice President JD Vance commented on the searches in a post on X, stating, "The special investigative team and the Department of Justice will relentlessly pursue these fraudsters wherever they may be hiding."
Specifically, Meni Kids gained national attention in December last year through a video posted on social media by YouTuber Nick Shirley. Shirley personally visited about 12 childcare centers and health clinics operated by Somalis.
Authorities executed 22 search warrants in this operation, and no arrests were reported.
Since 2021, 92 individuals have been indicted in connection with this case, and 67 have been convicted. This includes five individuals who pleaded guilty last month in connection with the "Feeding Our Future" scheme, which exploited federal nutrition programs.
