The People Power Party continued its strong offensive on the 2nd against the Democratic Party's "Special Prosecutor Bill on Allegations of Fabricated Investigations and Prosecutions by the Yoon Suk-yeol Administration," attempting to fuel a narrative of holding the government and ruling party accountable ahead of the June 3rd local elections.

Party Leader Jang Dong-hyuk stated via Facebook, "A special prosecutor to withdraw indictments is a 'Lee Jae-myung Crime Eraser Special Prosecutor.'" He added, "There are a staggering 12 alleged crimes they are trying to erase. No matter how hard you rub, they won't disappear."

He continued, "They boldly initiated the indictment withdrawal initiative just before the election. They are treating the public as fools and are not afraid of the people." He emphasized, "If you don't want to be treated like a fool, you must pick up a club. A club is the remedy for madness. We must erase the Lee Jae-myung regime through public judgment in the local elections."

Senior Spokesperson Park Seong-hoon issued a statement, saying, "The entire nation is abuzz with the special prosecutor bill, yet President Lee Jae-myung remains silent as if living in a different world." He questioned, "Isn't the fact that the party leader hasn't said a single word essentially an admission that he is the one who directed this bill?"

He added, "In the past, President Lee feigned a scholarly demeanor, urging against a 'law to suspend trials,' but why is he now speechless regarding this special prosecutor bill?" He asserted, "If President Lee does not exercise his veto power, the public will be convinced of the President's guilt on all 12 charges."

Spokesperson Ham In-kyung also commented, stating, "We cannot entrust our future to a force that abandons the lives of the people and clings only to the arrogance of power and the protection of justice." She continued, "Elections are not a process to complete the unchecked rule of power, but a forum to judge arrogant power and political forces that disregard the public."

Candidates for the local elections also joined the offensive.

Seoul mayoral candidate Oh Se-hoon stated at events such as the "Filp Pilseung Gyeolui Daehoe" (Victory Resolution Rally) in Eunpyeong-gu and Gangdong-gap, Seoul, "If the Democratic Party wins (in the local elections), they will say, 'We've announced to the world that we are preparing a bill to withdraw indictments, and since we won, the public has permitted this (withdrawal of indictments).'" He questioned, "Are they trying to say that the citizens of Seoul and Busan agreed to this misguided law, and are they doing something unreasonable even considering the disadvantage in the election?"

Daegu mayoral candidate Chu Kyung-ho stated via Facebook, "The Democratic Party, after engaging in team killing and self-sabotaging parliamentary investigations with sheer stubbornness, has once again proposed a special prosecutor bill. I've lost count of how many special prosecutor bills it is." He pointed out, "It is an shameless idea to appoint a special prosecutor who will investigate the defendant's own case, and for that special prosecutor to withdraw the indictment and eliminate the case itself. Will the public accept this?"
