Five people were killed or injured in a shooting incident in a Koreatown in Carrollton, a suburb of Dallas, Texas.
The Associated Press and Fox 4 reported that two people died and three were injured in a series of shooting incidents on Sunday (local time) in a shopping mall and nearby apartments in Carrollton's Koreatown, north of Dallas.
According to the reports, around 10 a.m. that day, a suspect opened fire on four people he met for business near K-Town Plaza. As a result, one man died at the scene, and two other men and one woman were injured.
Subsequently, a report of gunshots was received from a nearby apartment complex, where one man was found dead.
Police identified 69-year-old Han Seung-ho, who operated a Japanese restaurant in the K-Town strip mall, as the suspect in both shootings. His nationality or ethnicity was not disclosed, but he is presumed to be Korean.
Han was later arrested by police in front of a nearby mart while attempting to flee.
Local media reported that Han stated his motive was anger due to "financial conflicts related to business."
Carrollton Police Chief Roberto Arredondo stated that it does not appear to be a "random shooting" and explained, "We understand that the shooter and victims were involved in a business relationship. We do not know the exact reason for their meeting."
The identities of the five victims have not yet been confirmed.
Woo Sung-chul, president of the Dallas Korean Association, told Fox 4 that he knew some of the victims and mourned, "They were all immigrants who worked hard here for their families."
Carrollton is a city of 130,000 people, located 32 kilometers (20 miles) from Dallas, and is known to have a Korean population of about 4,000.
