Newsmax reported on the 6th (local time) that an anti-fraud task force led by Vice President JD Vance found that 186,000 deceased individuals were receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
At a rally in Iowa on Tuesday, Vance said, "We’ve seen 186,000 dead people who are getting SNAP benefits. We have 186,000 dead Americans right now who are getting food stamps. The fake news media is going to do a headline on this speech that says, ‘JD Vance wants to get rid of the food stamp program.’"
"That's what they're going to say. And you know, I actually do think we should claw back the food stamps from the dead people. I’ve thought about that. But I think that’s a reasonable proposition," he added.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March establishing a task force to combat fraud.
Ahead of the November midterm elections, President Trump made cracking down on election fraud a cornerstone of his domestic policy as voters expressed concerns about the cost of elections.

These efforts come after allegations of fraud related to daycare centers run by Somali residents in Minneapolis led to increased immigration enforcement in the city and resulted in large-scale protests.
Vance stated on Tuesday that detecting fraud within the federal government is "like fishing in a barrel with dynamite."
He said he is "shocked on a daily basis" by the findings of the task force.
Referring to Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, Vance said, "Secretary Rollins found that there are 355,000 people who are getting double benefits on SNAP, and 186,000 dead people who are getting SNAP benefits," adding, "We have 186,000 dead Americans who are getting food stamps right now."
He recounted that Secretary Rollins informed him that "there are people who own Lamborghinis who are currently getting SNAP benefits."
"I’m a pretty conservative guy, but I bet 95% of the American people agree with me that if you’re wealthy enough to buy a Lamborghini, you don’t need to be getting SNAP benefits that are provided by the American people. That’s just common sense, isn’t it?" Vice President Vance said.
