Oh Sang-jong, Representative of the Korean National Dignity Group [Photo=Yonhap News]
Oh Sang-jong, Representative of the Korean National Dignity Group, conveyed a fervent message: "We ask for your participation in the anti-constitutional amendment movement until the 10th."
Representative Oh Sang-jong, who held a one-person protest in front of the National Assembly on the 6th and 7th against a "hasty constitutional amendment," stated that he delivered this request after witnessing "the arrogance of the ruling party, which closes its ears to the voices of the people and attempts to butcher the constitution according to their own clock."
He criticized, "The vote on the constitutional amendment bill happening at the National Assembly today is not for the people, but merely a 'deception show' solely for the benefit of Lee Jae-myung and the leftist regime."
Furthermore, he revealed, "The Democratic Party claims that even if today's vote fails, they will open the plenary session every day until the 10th to forcefully pass it." He explained, "The reason for their set 'deadline of the 10th' is singular: to bundle the referendum on constitutional amendment with the June local elections."
Representative Oh escalated his criticism, calling the idea of processing the constitutional amendment, which is a hundred-year plan for the nation, in a hurried manner to fit an election schedule as an arrogant act that disregards the people's right to know.
The following is the full text of the statement by Oh Sang-jong, Representative of the Korean National Dignity Group.
[Urgent Plea] We request your participation in the anti-constitutional amendment movement until the 10th
Hello, this is Oh Sang-jong. What I witnessed during my one-person protest in front of the National Assembly yesterday and today against a "hasty constitutional amendment" was the arrogance of the ruling party, which closes its ears to the voices of the people and attempts to butcher the constitution according to their own clock.
The vote on the constitutional amendment bill happening at the National Assembly today is not for the people, but merely a 'deception show' solely for the benefit of Lee Jae-myung and the leftist regime.
The Democratic Party claims that even if today's vote fails, they will open the plenary session every day until the 10th to forcefully pass it. The reason for their set 'deadline of the 10th' is singular: to bundle the referendum on constitutional amendment with the June local elections. The idea of processing the constitutional amendment, which is a hundred-year plan for the nation, in a hurried manner to fit an election schedule is an arrogant act that disregards the people's right to know.
Lee Jae-myung is threatening the people with the absurd logic that "those who oppose constitutional amendment are proponents of martial law." We boldly ask in return: Are you, who are trying to alter the preamble of the constitution without sufficient social consensus, trying to endorse the past acts of breaking into armories, hijacking military vehicles, planting dynamite at broadcasting stations, arson at broadcasting stations, and raiding prisons?
They intend to sneakily push through the constitutional amendment bill by burying it within the fervor of the local elections so that the public remains unaware. However, we are on a different level than those who merely act as rubber stamps for the Democratic Party. Vigilant citizens are watching with open eyes. The constitution can never be the exclusive property of a specific ideology.
We must inform everyone that the public is closely observing the reality of this hasty constitutional amendment through YouTube and news article comments.
Bundling the constitutional amendment for the June local elections, the public is not fools! We resolutely oppose the hasty constitutional amendment!
