The People Power Party has designated the Democratic Party of Korea's "Special Prosecutor Bill on Allegations of Fabricated Investigations and Prosecutions by the Yoon Suk-yeol Administration" as an unjust law aimed at withdrawing the indictment in the Lee Jae-myung presidential case, and has decided to launch a task force (TF) to block it.
Park Seong-hoon, the senior spokesperson, told reporters at the National Assembly on the 9th, "If the Central Election Management Committee is launched, a 'Prosecution Withdrawal Response TF' will be launched in the form of an internal organization within the Central Election Management Committee."
He stated, "It is important to inform not only our traditional conservative supporters but also centrists and undecided voters about how unfair the prosecution withdrawal special prosecutor bill is and how it violates the constitutional order of the Republic of Korea."
Regarding the launch date of the Central Election Management Committee, he explained, "It is realistically difficult as Representative Jang Dong-hyuk will be visiting various regions this weekend, so we will announce it sometime next week."
The People Power Party is expected to launch the election committee next week, as they will complete their nominations for metropolitan mayors and by-elections after selecting the candidate for the by-election for the National Assembly in Gongju, Buyeo, and Cheongyang, Chungnam, on the 13th.
Although there were initial differences of opinion between Representative Jang's camp and Floor Leader Song Eon-seok regarding whether Representative Jang would join as a co-chair of the election committee as per convention, it appears to have been settled with his participation.
