U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, stated on the 10th (local time) that U.S. President Donald Trump is giving diplomacy the maximum opportunity while holding the option to resume attacks on Iran.
In an interview with ABC News on the same day, Ambassador Waltz said, "He (President Trump) is giving every possible opportunity to diplomacy before returning to hostilities," adding, "But he is certainly prepared to do so (prepared to resume attacks on Iran)."
Ambassador Waltz added, "Regarding the issue of a ceasefire (between the U.S. and Iran), it is up to the Commander-in-Chief, President Trump, to decide what constitutes a (ceasefire) violation, when to return to military action, or how long to give diplomatic opportunities."
Regarding the effectiveness of the maritime blockade against Iran, which has been ongoing since mid-last month, Ambassador Waltz said, "Currently, the Iranian economy is completely collapsing, its currency value has plummeted, and its foreign exchange reserves are completely depleted," adding, "The Iranian regime is under immense pressure."
