China has heightened security by successively suspending operations at major tourist attractions in Beijing to coincide with U.S. President Donald Trump's visit.
According to China's official Xinhua News Agency and other sources on the 13th, the Beijing Heritage Conservation Center announced in a notice that Zhengyang Gate's tower, located south of Tiananmen Square, would be closed for the entire day of the 14th.
The center stated that the measure was "to cooperate with important events" and that refunds would be processed for visitors who had already made reservations.
Zhengyang Gate's tower is one of Beijing's representative scenic viewpoints, offering a panoramic view of Tiananmen Square.
From the tower, visitors can also see the entrance to the Great Hall of the People, where President Trump's welcoming ceremony is scheduled to take place.
Having served as a defensive facility for Beijing during the Ming and Qing dynasties, it is now famous as a popular spot for tourists to take photographs.
Ahead of President Trump's visit, China is also strengthening control over major facilities in Beijing.
The Temple of Heaven Park, which President Trump and President Xi Jinping are scheduled to visit together after their summit, suspended operations the day before, and the Capital Museum has also been temporarily closed for six days since the 12th, citing important events.

Heavy security measures are also in place, with a large deployment of armed police along major roads and at subway stations in downtown Beijing.
In addition, American Stars and Stripes flags and Chinese Five-Starred Red Flags were displayed side-by-side along the main roads that President Trump will use to travel from the airport to downtown Beijing, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Photos and videos of the national flags displayed along the airport expressway have been successively uploaded to the Chinese social media platform Weibo, with reactions such as "Beijing has entered state visit mode" and "The Stars and Stripes are flying in Beijing."
President Trump is scheduled to arrive in Beijing tonight, beginning his three-day state visit.
He will hold a summit with President Xi on the morning of the 14th, visit the Temple of Heaven Park together, and attend a state banquet.
