It has been reported that all members of President Donald Trump's delegation discarded all items provided by their Chinese hosts into a trash can located at the bottom of the stairs before boarding Air Force One to leave Beijing.

New York Post White House correspondent Emily Goodin stated on X, "US staff took everything the Chinese officials handed out – IDs, burner phones for White House staff, even delegate badges – collected them and threw them into a trash can at the bottom of the stairs before we boarded Air Force One."

Goodin added, "Nothing from China can come onto the plane. We are taking off for the US soon."

This measure is interpreted as a standard counterintelligence protocol for national security, aimed at preventing the possibility of Chinese authorities embedding listening devices, location trackers, or malicious spyware chips within gifts or souvenirs.

Amidst heightened diplomatic tensions between the US and China over trade negotiations and the competition for technological supremacy, this action reflects the White House's strong commitment to security and its efforts to completely block any information leaks.

The New York Post described the time spent in China as a period of "digital lockdown," noting that President Trump and his entire delegation were "instructed not to use personal devices to protect their personal information from hackers."

Goodin reported, "White House staff have been using burner phones and burner email addresses throughout the two-day summit, which is part of the White House's efforts to ensure that meetings proceed smoothly while maintaining information security."

The U.S. State Department has warned Americans traveling to China, stating, "You cannot expect privacy in mobile and other networks in China," and advised many travelers to carry electronic devices that do not store personal information.

For White House staff, personal devices were placed in Faraday bags, which block all signals including GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and RFID, and were stored on Air Force One.

These bags prevent sensitive data from being remotely hacked.

Air Force One is considered U.S. territory regardless of where it is parked, and this aircraft, which serves as a secure repository for classified information while in flight, is equipped with other methods to protect data, according to the New York Post.
