Incheon Airport Introduces World's First Self-Driving Self-Check-in Robot [Provided by Incheon Airport]
Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 18th that it has introduced self-driving self-check-in robots for the first time among global airports.
Starting this month, Incheon Airport will fully operate 31 new self-driving robots, including self-driving self-check-in robots, guidance & patrol robots, and docent robots.
The self-driving self-check-in robots approach passengers first to provide the same self-check-in service as existing kiosks. Previously, self-check-in could only be used if passengers found a kiosk themselves.
The guidance & patrol robots are a renewed version of the existing guidance robots, newly equipped with generative AI technology, enabling natural voice conversations with passengers.
The docent robots serve as cultural guides, providing information on exhibits and airport facilities at the Terminal 1 Transportation Center and the Terminal 2 Concourse Control Tower.
Kim Beom-ho, Acting President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, said, "Incheon Airport will continue to actively adopt advanced technologies such as AI, 5G, and autonomous driving."
