  • Axios: Insufficient Iranian proposal raises risk of renewed war

Iran submitted a new revised proposal consisting of 14 articles to the United States through Pakistan to end its conflict with the U.S. However, the White House has firmly rejected this proposal as well, Axios reported, citing anonymous sources.

According to the report, although President Donald Trump is still seeking a negotiated settlement, administration officials are reportedly considering the possibility of resuming military action as Iran has been reported to have rejected several of the U.S.'s demands related to its nuclear program.

Iran's latest proposal came just hours after President Trump posted on Truth Social, "Iran has no time left. If they want to move quickly, Iran will be totally gone. Time is of the essence!"

Axios reported that some administration officials believe Iran's submission of another proposal indicates concern about the possibility of further U.S. military action.

President Trump hinted at military pressure through a series of videos and photos on Truth Social on Sunday, including shooting down an Iranian drone or attacking Iran from space.

Iran has long claimed that time is on their side. They appear to have judged that President Trump's desire for negotiation is a favorable factor for them.

Hakan Fidan, the Turkish Foreign Minister, who is involved in mediation, said at a press conference in Berlin on Monday, the 18th, "I hope the U.S. and Iran are aware of the risks of resuming war."

Qatar, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia are also participating in mediation efforts, emphasizing that the U.S. and Iran must find common ground and agree to end the war.

However, President Trump made it clear that what the U.S. wants is not compromise but surrender.

He wrote on Truth Social on Monday the 18th, "If Iran surrenders, admits their Navy is sunk to the bottom of the ocean, and their Air Force no longer exists, and if all of the Iranian soldiers lay down their arms and walk out of Tehran with their hands up, waving white flags all over the place, and shouting “We surrender, we surrender,” and if all of the remaining leadership signs all of the necessary “surrender documents,” and admits defeat in front of the magnificent might and majesty of the United States, then the failing New York Times, China Street Journal (WSJ!), the corrupt and now meaningless CNN, and all other Fake News media will write that Iran has achieved an overwhelming and shining victory over the United States, and that the victory was not even close. The dumb Democrats and the Media have lost their way. They have gone totally insane!!!"

Nevertheless, President Trump stated that he had ordered the Department of Defense to postpone a military operation scheduled for Tuesday, the 19th.

He stated on Truth Social on Monday, the 18th, "I received requests from His Highness Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, and His Excellency President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates, to hold off on the military attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was scheduled for tomorrow. They have indicated that serious negotiations are currently underway and that an agreement will be reached that will be very acceptable not only to the United States but to the Middle East and beyond, according to their views, as a great leader and ally. This agreement will include, above all, ‘the prohibition of Iran’s possession of nuclear weapons’! Based on my respect for the aforementioned leaders, I have instructed Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Daniel Kane, and the U.S. military not to carry out the attack on Iran scheduled for tomorrow. However, I have further instructed them to be prepared to carry out a full-scale and massive attack on Iran immediately if an acceptable agreement is not reached."

Axios, citing another source familiar with the situation, reported that President Trump told his hardline political allies that the three Arab leaders did not want their oil and energy facilities destroyed by Iranian retaliation.

It remains to be seen whether a historic Iranian surrender will occur.
