Conservative civic groups are planning a large-scale outdoor rally to condemn and block the so-called "Indictment Withdrawal Special Prosecutor Act" being pursued by the Democratic Party of Korea.

The civic group "Jae-il-dae-han-ho-guk-dan" announced that the "National Action Against the Indictment Withdrawal Special Prosecutor Act for Lee Jae-myung" will be held on Monday, the 25th, at 2 PM, in front of Pagoda Tower near Exit 10 of Gangnam Station on Seoul Subway Line 2.

The "Indictment Withdrawal Special Prosecutor Act," which has become the catalyst for this rally, is a bill that aims to appoint a special prosecutor to re-investigate the prosecution's existing indictment process regarding key charges against Lee Jae-myung, who is currently on trial for △development special treatment allegations in Daejang-dong and Baekhyeon-dong △violation of public official election law △allegations of instructing perjury, and to grant the authority to withdraw indictments based on the results.

The Democratic Party of Korea argues that the prosecution has engaged in unreasonable "targeted investigations" and "excessive indictments" with political motives, and therefore, the illegality and distortion of the investigative process should be corrected through an independent special prosecutor, leading to the withdrawal of unjust indictments.

In response, the conservative camp criticized, "This is an unprecedented 'obstruction of justice' in our constitutional history and an 'enabling legislation for Lee Jae-myung' using its majority seats," adding, "The legislative branch's attempt to forcibly withdraw the prosecution's indictments by having a special prosecutor intervene in a matter already undergoing judicial review (trial) by the court directly undermines the principle of separation of powers and the rule of law."

Oh Sang-jong, representative of Jae-il-dae-han-ho-guk-dan, stated, "This special prosecutor bill is an extra-legal idea to neutralize the entire judicial system to exempt a specific politician from criminal responsibility," and appealed for "many citizens to come out to the streets and raise their voices to prevent the collapse of the rule of law."

A march of approximately 2.8 km from Gangnam Station is scheduled after the rally.

This rally will be attended by a large number of civic groups and influencers, including △Gangnam Forum △ROK ROTC Patriotic Comrades Association △멸공TV △Mincho Gyeolsadae △Lawyer Park Ju-hyun △FLD, in addition to Jae-il-dae-han-ho-guk-dan.
