Newt Gingrich, a former Speaker of the House and a senior figure in the Republican Party who consistently wields influence within conservative circles, stated that President Trump is "on the verge of a historic victory."

Gingrich, who has expressed a complex stance in recent weeks by defending President Trump's military and diplomatic decisions while also warning of the dangers of the Iranian regime and demanding a clear exit strategy, pointed out in a column posted on his blog on Thursday (28th) that the United States and Iran "must learn from the Christmas bombing of Hanoi in 1972."

He highlighted that President Trump is acting not just as the leader of the United States but as the leader of a coalition, highly praising the unification of Middle Eastern countries based on the Abraham Accords, and explained that this is why Trump's decisions currently appear to be slow.

The goal of building a multilateral coalition front in the Middle East, meaning forming a peaceful solidarity in the Middle East, is a higher-level objective than bringing down Iran.

Gingrich stated, "If this were a unilateral American operation, I would enthusiastically support a more aggressive military action," but analyzed that as a coalition operation, a military strike against Iran would "clearly shatter the coalition" by inflicting immense damage on the oil fields and infrastructure of the Arab allies.

In his column, Gingrich wrote, "The Iranian people must understand. Patience is not a sign of weakness. Trying to act rationally is not a sign of cowardice."

After reviewing the situation with Iran all week, I am now convinced President Trump is on the verge of a historic victory. What truly enlightened me was viewing President Trump’s decisions and actions not from an isolationist American perspective, but from the perspective of the leader of this astonishing historical coalition—the greatest coalition in modern Middle Eastern history.

Everyone knows Israel is an important ally. But the depth of support coming from the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and other countries in the region is scarcely discussed.

The realization that no allies are stepping up to counter our maritime blockade will be a stark reality check for the Iranian dictatorship. Slowly, steadily, carefully, our European allies are lining up to support the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

When President Trump is seen not just as a unilateral American president, but as the leader of a coalition, the myriad strategies he is pursuing against Iran begin to make sense.

For the past few weeks, I have spent a great deal of time contemplating military options, including winning the battles for the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and, if necessary, using the kind of shocking and destructive force against Hanoi and Haiphong that President Nixon and Secretary of State Kissinger inflicted on Christmas 1972 (the two leaders believed this action persuaded North Vietnam to agree to a ceasefire and the release of American prisoners).

If this were a unilateral American operation, I would enthusiastically support a more aggressive military action. But as an Arab ally is convinced that Iran could still inflict enormous damage on their oil fields and infrastructure, such an operation would clearly shatter the coalition.

Coalition operations are inherently slower than unilateral operations. However, coalitions ultimately bring much greater power to bear in combat.

Like anyone else, I am frustrated by the pace of negotiations with a dictatorship, but reviewing the balance of power and the available options on both sides, with the coalition on one side and a religiously motivated dictatorship on the other, I can confidently assert that President Trump’s command of the coalition (a part that almost none of his critics seem willing to acknowledge) is on the verge of a great historic victory.

And if the Iranian dictatorship proves eventually to be hopelessly attached to a suicidal position, there will be ample time for military operations of immense power and effectiveness. Either way, we are on the cusp of an astonishing victory for our values and a more secure Middle East.
