The Daejeon City Chapter of the People Power Party announced on the 1st that it has filed a complaint with the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency against Park Jung-hyun, the chairperson of the Democratic Party of Korea's Daejeon City Chapter, and his aide, on charges of violating the Local Education Autonomy Act and the Public Official Election Act.

This action was taken because Park Jung-hyun's aide posted and distributed a card news piece supporting a specific candidate for the superintendent of education in a KakaoTalk group chat that included supporters of Rep. Park and residents.

In a press release on the same day, the People Power Party's Daejeon City Chapter stated, "This is a grave matter that undermines the political neutrality of the superintendent election," and revealed the purpose of the complaint, saying, "Thorough investigation is needed into whether Chairperson Park Jung-hyun's faction directed or was involved, beyond a simple expression of personal opinion."

In response, a representative of the Democratic Party's Daejeon City Chapter told Yonhap News in a phone call, "This was an incident where the aide mistakenly posted it as a personal error and immediately deleted the post," adding, "Magnifying this into an issue at the city chapter chairperson level is an excessive smear campaign at the end of the election period."
