U.S. President Donald Trump predicted on the 1st (local time) that a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to end the war with Iran could be agreed upon within the next week.

When asked about the completion and agreement date of the MOU in a phone interview with U.S. ABC News on the same day, President Trump replied, "I think you'll be talking about that in the next week," the broadcaster reported.

However, President Trump stated that an agreement had not yet been reached, adding, "I still have a few more issues to resolve."

The armistice MOU being discussed by the United States and Iran is known to include a 60-day extension of the ceasefire and a full permission for civilian ship passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

However, President Trump's demands for Iran to prohibit nuclear weapons and to excavate and remove highly enriched uranium (HEU) buried in Iran under U.S. leadership as redlines for the armistice agreement have made reaching an agreement difficult.
