On the 3rd, the main voting day for the 9th nationwide simultaneous local elections, reports related to the elections, including disruptions, disturbances, and traffic inconveniences, continued to come in from polling stations across the country.
According to the National Police Agency, a total of 88 emergency calls (112) related to the elections were received nationwide from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. that day.
By type, there were 14 cases of voting disruption and disturbance, the highest number, and 3 cases of traffic inconvenience were reported. There were no reports of assault.
Other reports, including mistaken calls, totaled 71.
In Sejong City, a man in his 40s was stopped when he tried to show his cast ballot to people around him instead of placing it in the ballot box after voting.
The man reportedly said, "Didn't the President do this too?" and "Please check if I voted correctly," implying he wanted his ballot verified.
At a polling station in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, a man in his 60s caused a disturbance by shouting and refusing to be stopped when he tried to leave the voting booth with his ballot without placing it in the ballot box.
The police plan to verify the facts of the reports and review whether any laws were violated.
