The content of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the U.S. and Iran, which Bloomberg News reported it obtained and publicized, is inaccurate, Tasnim News reported on the 17th (local time).
A source familiar with the ceasefire negotiations told Tasnim News that "the document publicized by Bloomberg News as the full text of the 'Islamabad MOU' is inaccurate and has several flaws."
The source claimed, "As is known, the MOU consists of 14 articles, and the topics related to each article have been mentioned in the media several times," adding, "The details of each article reported by Bloomberg are largely insufficient."
In particular, it was emphasized that "Article 1 and the article related to the Strait of Hormuz are clearly inaccurate, and some important keywords are missing."
Article 1 of the MOU reported by Bloomberg states, "Iran, the United States, and their respective allied forces declare the immediate and permanent cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, simultaneously with the signing of the MOU, and pledge to refrain from any hostile actions against each other and from the use or threat of force in the future."
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Bloomberg reported that it was agreed that "Iran will take necessary measures, including mine clearance, immediately upon signing the MOU, and restore the passage of merchant vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman to pre-war levels within 30 days (Article 5)."
The source added, "The full text of the agreement will be officially released after the signing ceremony on Friday (the 19th) with the agreement of both sides."
