At least five Iranian military advisors were killed in U.S. and Saudi airstrikes targeting pro-Iranian militias in Iraq, AFP reported on the 29th (local time).

A source from the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), a pro-Iranian Shiite militia in Iraq, stated that "five Iranian advisors were killed in the U.S. and Saudi airstrikes."

The source added that the casualties lost their lives in strikes that took place in Diyala Province, central Iraq.

In connection to this, AFP reporters noted that they witnessed coffins draped in Iranian flags at a funeral for the victims held in Baghdad, which was led by the Popular Mobilization Forces.

The Iranian newspaper Hamshahri also reported that military advisors from the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in the U.S.-Saudi airstrikes that occurred the previous night. However, Hamshahri stated that the death toll was four.

Iranian authorities have yet to officially confirm the casualties among their military advisors.

Previously, immediately following the U.S. and Saudi airstrikes, the Popular Mobilization Forces stated that at least 20 of its members had been killed and 32 others injured.
