U.S. President Donald Trump declared on the 29th (local time) that he would take strong retaliatory action against Iran's surprise attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan.

He also hinted at additional airstrikes against pro-Iranian proxy forces in the Middle East. With Saudi Arabia joining the U.S. military's strikes against pro-Iranian militias in Iraq, tensions between the U.S. and Iran are escalating once again.

According to Fox News, President Trump used profanity during a phone interview with the network that morning, stating, "We are going to beat the hell out of them."

He emphasized, "We will strike hard. They (Iran) are going to get hit."

This signals a high-intensity response to Iran’s surprise attack targeting U.S. military bases in the Middle East. President Trump has previously used vulgar language to pressure Iran, such as when he posted on social media in early April, "Open the damn (Strait of Hormuz), you crazy bastards."

President Trump had been conducting airstrikes against Iran for about two weeks starting on the 11th before pausing them on the 24th. Given this surprise attack by Iran, there is growing attention on the likelihood that U.S. airstrikes will resume soon.

In the interview, President Trump explained that while U.S. forces had only a few minutes to respond to Iran's surprise attack, they successfully intercepted all incoming targets before they could strike.

This appears to be an attempt to denounce Iran's sudden aggression while highlighting the success of the U.S. military's defense.

The U.S. Central Command stated the previous evening that Iran had launched multiple ballistic missiles at U.S. military bases in the Middle East, all of which were successfully intercepted by U.S. forces.

Regarding the U.S. and Saudi-led strikes on pro-Iranian militias in Iraq on the 28th, President Trump stated that the matter had been coordinated with the Iraqi government.

Fox News reported that President Trump denounced the militia as "a cancer on the world" and said he is considering further warnings against Iran's proxy forces.

This is interpreted as an indication of further strikes against pro-Iranian proxy forces in the Middle East.

Concerns over an escalation of the conflict are mounting, as Saudi Arabia—the leader of the Sunni Islamic world in the Middle East, which has generally been reluctant to openly retaliate against Iran since the outbreak of hostilities—has now joined the U.S. military's strikes against Iran.
