US military sank Venezuelan drug ship, also reported... "Large amount of drugs were on board."
U.S. President Donald Trump. Yonhap News.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the 2nd (local time) that he was not concerned at all about North Korea, China, and Russia growing closer in connection with China's Victory Day (on the 3rd local time).
When asked by reporters at the White House on the same day if he saw the closer ties between North Korea, China, and Russia as a challenge or a force checking the United States, President Trump responded, "Not at all."
This coming the 3rd, a large-scale military parade to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory Day will be held in Beijing, China, where President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un are expected to gather in one place for the first time since the end of the Cold War.
Regarding this, President Trump said, "China needs us (the United States). I have a very good relationship with President Xi Jinping, but China needs us much more than we need them."
In a prior interview with 'The Scott Jennings Radio Show,' which aired before this, President Trump also stated he was "not concerned" about China and Russia drawing closer to form an "anti-American axis," adding, "They will not use military force against the United States."
Although President Trump is pursuing bilateral talks with President Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after directly meeting President Putin in Alaska, President Putin is not agreeing to this and is instead strengthening his offensive against Ukraine while showing closer ties with China.
In the interview, President Trump criticized President Putin, saying he was "very disappointed."
He also stated, without revealing specific measures, "We will do something to help the people (of Ukraine) live."
However, during the White House press briefing, when asked if he had spoken with President Putin regarding negotiations to end the Ukraine war, President Trump said, "We have figured out some very interesting things. We will find out in the next few days."
Regarding the potential repercussions if a Russia-Ukraine summit does not materialize, he replied, "We will see what happens. I will watch what they do and what happens," adding, "I am watching very closely."
Meanwhile, President Trump announced that the U.S. military had sunk a drug smuggling vessel in Venezuela on the same day, stating, "There was a large amount of drugs on that ship."
In relation to this, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, "The U.S. military carried out a lethal strike against a designated drug-smuggling vessel operated by drug and terror organizations, which had departed from Venezuela."
