Concerns have been raised within Taiwan following the release of a new military song by China that overtly expresses its determination for unification with Taiwan.

According to reports from Chinese state media such as China Daily and Hong Kong Commercial Daily on the 17th, the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army released a barracks creative song titled "Let's Plant the Flag of Victory on Treasure Island" along with a music video on its WeChat account "People's Front" on the 13th.

The Chinese government defines Taiwan as part of its territory and also refers to it as "Treasure Island" (Baodao, 寶島).

The Eastern Theater Command introduced it as "an expression of strong belief in building a powerful military, melted into a powerful rhythm." While not an official military anthem, the song is used for domestic and international propaganda and to boost troop morale.

China Daily reported that the military song emphasizes the Eastern Theater Command's resolve to strengthen combat readiness and fulfill its missions.

The lyrics repeatedly include calls such as "We are the vanguard of unification" and "Comrades, let's advance," and also mention embracing the Penghu Islands and docking at Keelung Port.

The Penghu Islands are a strategic military location in the Taiwan Strait, and Keelung Port is located in northern Taiwan, adjacent to the metropolitan area of the capital, Taipei.

The music video featured missile launch scenes and Taipei 101, a landmark of Taiwan.

Amid escalating tensions across the Taiwan Strait due to China's increased military pressure on Taiwan, voices of caution have also emerged within Taiwan.

According to Taiwanese media such as CTS News, retired Major General Lee Cheng-chieh of the Taiwanese military stated on a TV program on the 16th that "military songs are the most effective brainwashing tools" and that "promoting ideological education through military songs is already part of war preparations, and Taiwan must not take this lightly."

He added that "the gap in military power between Taiwan and China is clear," claiming that "Taiwan's F-16 fighter jets are 4.5 generation, making it difficult to match the performance of China's 5th-generation J-20 fighter jets, and Taiwan is also at a disadvantage in the field of missiles."
