U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned media mogul Rupert Murdoch and others as potential American investors in the acquisition of the U.S. operations of China's popular video platform TikTok on the 21st (local time).
In an interview with Fox News aired that day, President Trump said, "As you know, they (investors) are very well-known people. Larry Ellison is one of them. He is participating."
He added, "Michael Dell, who is a great guy, is also participating. And someone with the rare name of Lachlan is participating. Lachlan Murdoch. Rupert (Lachlan's father) will probably be joining that group too."
Larry Ellison is the founder and chief technology officer (CTO) of Oracle, a U.S. software and cloud infrastructure company. He recently surpassed Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, to become the world's richest person.
Michael Dell is the chairman of Dell Technologies, a company that manufactures AI servers and computers.
Lachlan has been designated by his father, Rupert Murdoch, as the successor to his "media empire," which includes U.S. media outlets such as Fox News, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), and The New York Post, as well as major broadcasters and newspapers in the UK and Australia.
Regarding these individuals, President Trump said, "They are also patriots. They love this country, so I think they will do a really good job."
President Trump also vehemently criticized the Democratic Party's 58 members of the House of Representatives for voting against a resolution honoring the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in a shooting, calling it "insane. It's sick in many ways."
He also criticized the Democrats for opposing the Republican Party's continuing resolution (CR) and stated in relation to the midterm elections next year, "Statistically, the president has lost midterm elections. But we are doing a great job as president. We will have great midterm election results."
Regarding Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (New York), who is considered a progressive within the Democratic Party and is reportedly considering a presidential run in 2028, he said, "In terms of keeping America great, she has the wrong philosophy for the country. Her philosophy is not good for our country. I don't think she can win with that philosophy."
Meanwhile, when asked about his "dream car as a child," President Trump cited Ferrari, an Italian brand, and then said, "Now I buy American cars. 52% of our car manufacturing was taken away by other countries like Mexico, Canada, Germany, China, and Japan, but it's all coming back (to the U.S.). We will be manufacturing a lot of cars."
