The FBI secretly deployed over 250 undercover agents to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, Just The News reported on the 25th.

According to the outlet, the operation was so disorderly that it caused extreme frustration among many rank-and-file FBI employees and was only discovered over four years later in an unreleased after-action report, which stated the FBI had lost its core competency due to "wokism" and allowed employees to become "puppets in a political war."

The report, obtained by Just The News, detailed how dozens of FBI agents and employees (most of whom were from the FBI's main Washington Field Office, or WFO) anonymously complained to the after-action team that agents were sent into dangerous situations without proper safety equipment and could not easily identify themselves as armed police officers to other law enforcement agencies.

The most consistently raised complaint was that the IRS had been politically biased and infiltrated with liberal ideology under Directors James Comey and Christopher Wray, treating "Black Lives Matter" riot protestors in the summer of 2020 completely differently than those arrested after January 6.

One agent even implored FBI leadership to "find a viable resignation option for an FBI employee who believes that supporting federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies is no longer legally or morally justifiable due to political bias."

One agent said the problem extended beyond the bureau to the U.S. Attorney's Office in D.C., suggesting the problem of political bias was more widespread.

The agent wrote, "The U.S. Attorney's Office is now determining who to investigate. That is a dangerous precedent. They are not even properly pursuing investigations that clearly meet the bar for federal prosecution. But their willingness to try and get search warrants for people's lives over minor offenses seems absurd. It is absurd for the FBI to be pursuing investigations into minor offenses on a federal level... that is not our role."

Much of the agent feedback focused on the Washington Field Office and its culture. One employee wrote, "The WFO is a completely broken office that cares more about enforcing mask mandates and recruiting certain racial/gender groups than catching bad guys."

Another wrote, "I wish that they would be more concerned about our safety than what mask we wear. If you are going to send us into a riot then you need to provide us with proper safety equipment (helmets, face shields, body armor, and training!)."

The after-action report, which is 50 pages long, was found by the team of Kash Patel, now the FBI director, and was recently handed over to the House Judiciary Committee and the select subcommittee investigating security failures and the weaponization of law enforcement during the January 6 Capitol riot.

The document unearthed for the first time that the FBI sent a total of 274 agents to the Capitol in plain clothes after the riot had begun but that they did not have clear safety equipment to be recognized by other law enforcement agencies working in the chaos of the riot, surprising federal lawmakers.

Former FBI Director Christopher Wray vehemently refused to tell Congress how many agents were deployed to the Capitol on January 6, and a previous DOJ inspector general report did not release the numbers either, only mentioning that SWAT teams were deployed to the Capitol and that there were over 20 informants in the crowd, Just The News reported.

The fact that there was a large FBI agent deployment to the Capitol on January 6 could be problematic in many of the lawsuits that have since been filed in court, Just The News diagnosed.

The document also revealed for the first time that there had been widespread concern within the FBI for years, which exploded after the FBI began sending SWAT teams for minor offenses for January 6 and arresting participants: that the FBI was biased in favor of progressives and against conservatives.

Wray denied such claims in 2023 before Congress, calling them "utterly preposterous."

But rank-and-file agents repeatedly raised issues of liberal bias and wokeness in their after-action evaluations. The word "politics" or "bias" was mentioned more than a dozen times in the responses, and similar sentiments were mentioned dozens more times throughout the 50-page report, Just The News pointed out.

One wrote, "Our response to the Capitol riot is rife with political bias." Another wrote, "I wonder if our biases have affected our readiness."

"We were used as puppets in a political war, and the FBI leadership fell into the trap and allowed it to happen," wrote a third agent. "We are supposed to call balls and strikes regardless of political pressure, and now I cannot even trust that we are on the field."

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan vowed through a spokesperson that he and Jan. 6 Subcommittee Chairman Barry Loudermilk would uncover the undisclosed, secret truths of January 6.

"We have been investigating January 6 for over two years, and we have seen evidence that suggests there may be potential political bias that influenced the actions of agencies before, during, and after January 6. But this report is more damning and raises more questions than anyone could have imagined," Loudermilk told Just The News.

"Why is Congress only now finding out that far more FBI assets were in the Capitol than previously acknowledged? Did the courts that adjudicated Jan. 6 cases know that these agents were in the Capitol? Were there agents assigned to investigate individuals in the Capitol? Have they ever been subpoenaed to testify in the prosecution of J6 defendants? Has any former FBI official testified about the additional personnel being in the Capitol? These are just a few of the questions I will ask on the committee," he said. 

To FBI agents who watched as American cities burned throughout the summer of 2020, the deployment to the Capitol on January 6 points to a double standard.

"The actions on Jan. 6, 2021, were absolutely reprehensible and unacceptable in a civilized society. What is even more unacceptable is the hypocrisy of the FBI and its leadership in trying to hunt down those involved in the Capitol riot," one agent wrote.

The agent wrote, "The plot to commit crimes at the Capitol on January 6 was perpetrated by bad actors during the summer 2020 riots that preceded the November 3, 2020, election. Agents were on the ground in Washington D.C. and watched as businesses were looted, burned, and valuables were stolen."

The agent explained, "What is more egregious is that police officers were assaulted in broad daylight on the streets with cameras rolling, yet our response then was completely different than our response to the Capitol riot following January 6, 2021. I do not recall the FBI, specifically the FBI WFO, ever attempting to deploy resources to the summer 2020 riots as they did during the Capitol riot." 

The fact that a large number of FBI agents were deployed to the January 6 event, when FBI agents have heretofore been known to not be trained or equipped for riot control, along with the agents' scathing comments in this after-action report, is expected to cause significant waves.
