On the 7th (local time), the 2nd anniversary of the surprise terror attack by the Palestinian armed group Hamas on Israel, which triggered the Gaza war, the U.S. Donald Trump administration reaffirmed its support for Israel and vowed to eradicate anti-Semitism.

In a statement that day, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio pointed out that two years ago on this day, Hamas "murdered over 1,200 men, women, and children, including 46 Americans, in the most brutal terror attack in Israeli history."

He added, "In addition, Hamas kidnapped 254 hostages, including 12 Americans," and "Currently, 48 people (including deceased) are being held by Hamas, and the bodies of American citizens Itai Chen and Omer Neutra are included."

Secretary Rubio then stated, "The United States reaffirms its unwavering support for Israel's right to exist, its right to self-defense, and the guarantee of its people's safety." He added, "As the United States honors this tragic day and mourns the victims, we renew our resolve to prevent the recurrence of these atrocities."

He also mentioned that President Trump is leading efforts to promote sustainable peace in the Middle East through the 20-point Gaza peace initiative he announced.

Secretary Rubio further stated, "Since October 7, 2023, we have also witnessed a disturbing surge in anti-Semitism threatening Jewish communities around the world." He continued, "There can be no compromise with anti-Semitism. We continue to condemn all terrorism and anti-Semitism targeting Israel and urge the international community to stand with Israel on this painful day."
